Join Noongar man Larry Blight as he takes us on a walk along the Kalgan River, on Western Australia’s south coast.
While most of us would see only dry scrub, for the Albany-based educator and tour guide the bush is teeming with life.
The Noongar season Kambarang runs from October to November and is a good time for harvesting bush tucker.
Larry is able to locate several species of riverside plants that harbour all manner of nutritional and medicinal qualities.
From the soap-like Jop Burn and salty Samphire, to the citrus punch of the Kurup and the delicate sweet flavour of the Mul.
As Larry says, “Nature can give us everything if we know what to look for.”
